Trailer Loading Checklist

Road Doc

Load the car right before
the trip starts

This checklist is built for loading the 996 safely before a road trip — checking the trailer, setting ramps and boards, protecting the front lip, securing the car, and rechecking everything before the highway.

5 loading checks.
Hitch, ramps, loading, straps, and recheck

What this doc covers

  • Hitch, lights & chains

Confirm the trailer is connected correctly, lights work, chains are crossed, and the setup is safe before loading.

  • Ramps & loading boards

Set the ramps and boards before moving the car so the approach angle is controlled and the front lip stays protected.

  • Slow loading with a spotter

Load the car slowly, keep the wheels centered, and use a spotter to watch clearance, ramps, and trailer alignment.

  • Wheel placement & tie-downs

Center the car, confirm weight position, secure all wheels, and check that straps are routed cleanly with no rubbing.

  • Final recheck before towing

Pull forward, stop, recheck straps, trailer lights, chains, ramps, boards, and anything that may have shifted.
